WELCOME TO
First Response Mobile Services and Training

Our history and mission
First Response Mobile Services and Training was founded in 2005 in Killeen, Texas as a practical response to a growing need for accessible, high-quality emergency preparedness and veteran-centered behavioral health services in the Central Texas community. Over the years, we have grown into a trusted training center and counseling practice recognized for hands-on medical instruction, veteran support, counseling services, and professional hypnotherapy. Our foundational mission is simple: Prepare individuals to respond with competence during emergencies, support veterans and families through life transitions and trauma recovery, and deliver compassionate mental health care grounded in best practices.
Our story and values
First Response Mobile Services and Training, formerly First Response Medical Training LLC, was founded in September 2005 as a mobile operation bringing CPR and first aid training directly to workplaces and community events. The founders—therapists, facilitators, and first responders with deep local connections—recognized the barriers people faced in accessing timely training and mental health services. Since its founding by U.S. Army Disabled Veteran Ricardo Acosta, the organization has been known for its unparalleled commitment to the highest standards of medical services, training, and client satisfaction. Over nearly two decades of community engagement, First Response has expanded its offerings while preserving the mobile capability that allows us to meet organizations where they operate. Our core values include:
Professionalism
We uphold the highest standards of instruction, clinical ethics, and client service.
Accessibility
We design flexible training schedules, offer mobile delivery, and provide telehealth options to increase access.
Empathy
Our counseling teams prioritize listening, dignity, and culturally responsive care.
Excellence
We continually update our curriculum and clinical practices based on the latest evidence and standards.
Community partnership
We collaborate with local leaders, employers, and veteran organizations to create targeted programs that meet real needs.
Leadership and team experience
Our staff includes experienced instructors, clinicians, and administrative professionals:
Clinical leadership
Licensed mental health counselors and facilitators with training in trauma-informed care, veteran-specific issues, and evidence-based therapies, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (as available through referral).
Hypnosis therapists
Hypnotherapy is delivered by trained peer-to-peer specialists who bring both professional insight and lived experience in managing mental health. Our team is committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore the root causes of emotional and behavioral patterns and develop healthier coping strategies.
Medical training instructors
Certified CPR and first aid instructors with backgrounds in EMS, nursing, and workplace safety who emphasize real-world scenarios and competency-based assessment.
Administrative staff
Coordinators who facilitate scheduling, insurance verification, group training logistics, and community outreach.
Community focus and veteran-centered care
We pride ourselves on being a veteran-friendly organization. Killeen’s proximity to Fort Hood means that many of our clients are active duty service members, veterans, or military families. Our counseling services are tailored to meet the cultural needs of military-connected clients — from transition and reintegration supports to PTSD-informed therapy and benefits navigation. We maintain relationships with local veteran organizations and community resources to ensure clients get navigation support and specialized referrals when needed.
Programs and partnerships
Over the years, we have partnered with
Local employers and municipal agencies to deliver workplace CPR, first aid, and Stop the Bleed programs.
Schools and nonprofit organizations to provide youth-focused safety workshops and mental health literacy trainings.
Veteran service organizations to coordinate support groups, transition workshops, and counseling referrals.
Healthcare providers and clinics for continuing education offerings and collaborative care pathways.
Accreditations, certifications, and standards
Our training programs draw on recognized standards and accepted best practices. Where official accrediting bodies are relevant (such as the American Heart Association for CPR classes), we align our curriculum and certification processes accordingly. Our instructors maintain active certifications and continuing education to ensure content is current. Clinicians follow state licensure requirements, HIPAA compliance, and professional ethical standards for counseling and hypnosis therapy.

Rigorous course structure

Secure clinical practice
Counseling and hypnosis sessions adhere to confidentiality standards, secure recordkeeping, and safe clinical practices.
Client feedback loops
We collect participant feedback and use it to refine curriculum, scheduling, and clinical services.
Infection control and equipment maintenance
We maintain clean, calibrated training equipment and follow appropriate sanitation guidelines.
Why community members and organizations choose us
Trusted local presence
Founded in 2005 and re-established in 2021, we have built a strong record of service and lasting partnerships in Killeen and the surrounding communities.
Customized solutions
Our team creates classroom and onsite programs tailored to the unique needs of organizations, schools, and military units.
Veteran competency
Our clinicians and instructors understand military culture and veteran-specific needs, providing more effective care and outreach.
Practical focus
Training emphasizes scenario-based learning and repetition to build real-world competence.
Our training philosophy
We believe adult learners benefit most from applied, interactive instruction that mirrors the settings where they will use skills. Our classes balance concise theory with repeated hands-on practice, skill checks, and realistic scenarios. We incorporate adult learning principles, use feedback devices, and ensure each participant leaves with measurable improvement and confidence. For organizations, we provide documentation and recommendations for ongoing practice and recertification.
Clinical care approach
Our clinical practice centers on evidence-based treatments adapted to each client’s needs. We prioritize safety, informed consent, and collaborative goal-setting. For veterans and others affected by trauma, we implement trauma-informed modalities that avoid retraumatization and foster empowerment. Hypnosis therapy is offered as a complementary strategy when clinically appropriate, always explained clearly and integrated into the client’s overall treatment plan.
